These are my new crush; Mala beads! I love them…
I have to admit, sometimes I have trouble meditating, my mind wanders on my work list, children and what to cook for tea! Yes, I am afriad so. On the odd ocassion I might even get to the end of my allocated time and realsie I havent done anything with my meditation. My mala beads have changed the way I meditate.
Since using these beads, I have become more dedicated to my practice of meditation. My mala beads help me to concentrate while meditating by allowing me to focus on my breath or a mantra while touching each of the 108 beads in turn. There are so many sites that explain the benefits of Mala beads, here are a couple of sites:
Heal your life: meaning and history of Mala beads
What are Malas? Mala beads are ancient spiritual talismans (A talisman is an object thought to bring good luck or provide protection. Often worn on the body) Malas can be made from wood, gemstones (which will already have healing properties) or seeds.
Malas are used as a meditation tool to help focus and calm the mind or as a daily reminder to live spiritually and authentically following intuition and your dreams. Meditation will change your life, my husband has been meditatin for over 30 years now, every morning without fail and every evening without fail. He is my inspiration!
Intention Setting: Start by programming your mala with an intention or mantra. This is usually something you would like to manifest in your life. Simply hold your mala and concentrate on your mantra or intention and you will intuitively feel when it is ready.
With roots in Buddhism, Hinduism and yoga mala beads were originally used for Japa meditation where a mantra is repeated 108 times at the touch of each bead. By focusing on the mantra, the mind becomes free of fleeting thoughts and can more easily come into stillness.
If you choose a mala to wear as a talisman rather than use it as a meditation tool, simply wearing it will allow you to absorb the healing energies of the crystals and help bring happiness and peace. It will act as a daily reminder to live authentically and always follow your dreams.
Mala Beads are made with 108 healing crystal or sacred sandalwood beads plus one guru bead as is custom. The 109th bead represents the connection to the divine and used as a way to symbolize gratitude and our connection to our spiritual teachers.
