Chakra Love…
I believe that our bodies hold a fountain of wisdom, unmapped territory ready to be accessed through our chakras. I also know that we have to be prepared for that journey when we are called to it.
I have seen many sites explaining Chakras, talking about meditating, using crystals, visualisation, etc. and although I am drawn to them I can’t seem to connect; it can be mind boggling and this is where doing the work before hand will guide you, lead you, and call you to your inner wisdom.
Chakras require work, willingness, and trust. When these qualities are in congruence with your energy field, you are ready! How we get ready can be a number of things, yoga practice, meditation, kinesiology, healthy nutrition, and much more.
What does the word chakra mean?
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. These wheels should be turning in a clockwise position. When we are unbalanced they slow down and even begin to turn anti-clockwise.
Understanding our Chakras
Each chakra relates to a specific location and organ within our bodies, as well as a frequency-based colour and sound. Here is a brief look into the seven main chakras, using information I have gathered from reading various books and partly my interpretation and understanding through experience of working with chakras.
Base Chakra: This is the first chakra, it’s located at the base of the spine. It’s also called the root chakra. The root chakra is red in colour and relates to our feelings of safety and security, survival in the world, as well as where you fit into your ‘tribe’, and how ‘grounded’ you feel. It is our connection to Mother Earth. The organ that it relates to are the adrenal glands.
If this chakra is imbalanced, you may feel ungrounded, disconnected, scared, fearful, and unsure of your place in the world.
Sacral chakra: located near your navel, this chakra is orange in colour and relates to trust and openness, being able to share, and exchange for mutual benefit. This also corresponds to emotional sexuality, creativity, ability to create, and relate to others. Organs related to this chakra are the reproductive organs, including the womb.
If this chakra is imbalanced, you may feel sexually and creatively blocked, and suffer from reproductive issues such as PMS or lack of periods. You may find it hard to maintain relationships or feel uncreative and have trouble with fertility.
Solar plexus chakra: This is located between the navel and the base of your sternum. This chakra is yellow in colour and relates to your feelings of self; self-confidence, self-worth, self-love, self-esteem and inner power. The organ the solar plexus relates to is the pancreas.
If this chakra is imbalanced, you may feel insecure, powerless, lacking in self-love and confidence, and unworthy. You may also sabotage yourself or other areas of your life.
Heart chakra: located in the center of the chest, this chakra is green in colour and relates to your feelings and emotions in relationships, to giving and receiving love and forgiveness, gratitude and appreciation. Its mission is relationships and healing. It relates to the heart, circulatory system, and breasts.
If this chakra is imbalanced, you may find it hard to love and forgive yourself and others, feelings of unresolved anger and find it hard to be compassionate to yourself and others, or to feel gratitude in your life.
Throat chakra: located in the throat area, this blue chakra relates to communication and expression (to self and others), truth, speaking up, and self-responsibility. The throat chakra relates to the thyroid.
If this chakra is imbalanced, you may find it hard to communicate, to express yourself and speak up, honestly and authentically.
Brow chakra: And known as the third eye chakra is located between the eyes, this purple/indigo chakra, with the sound of Om, relates to vision, intuitive, insight, hindsight, and future-sight. Its job is to teach you the power of your mind. It relates to the pituitary glands and eyes.
If this chakra is imbalanced, it may be hard for you to tap into your intuition or you may feel a block around this, as well as being able to look ahead or look within.
Crown chakra: located at the top of the head, this violet chakra relates to your spiritual nature, It is the gateway to the five higher levels above the crown. It connects with the divine, with the universe, and with your higher self. It relates to your purpose and spirituality, and its organ is the pineal gland.
If this chakra is blocked or imbalanced, you may find it hard to tap into source energy, to feel connected to the divine, to something greater than yourself, to the universe, and you may feel lost, isolated, internalizing thoughts and feel as if you have lost your soul purpose.
